Awards & Twins for Melissa

I watched as Melissa Etheridge received her Stephen F. Kolzak award on LOGO this past weekend at the GLAAD Awards, and I was just thrilled to see how well she’s doing after her battle with cancer.

The Stephen F. Kolzak Award is named after a highly successful Los Angeles casting director who devoted the last part of his life to fighting AIDS-phobia and homophobia in the entertainment industry. This award is given to an openly gay member of the entertainment or media community for his or her work toward eliminating homophobia.

To make this year even more special, Melissa and her partner Tammy have announced that Tammy’s carrying twins! They’re saying they used a sperm bank for the insemination procedure.

Melissa just released a new album, “The Road Less Traveled” and has agreed to a summer tour to promote its release. You can check out her tour schedule on her website. Quite a few are already sold out.

Here’s a huge congrats on all fronts, and I’m thrilled Melissa’s back in the GLBT battle for equal rights once again.
